Our Pub

The Peacock Inn, Piltdown, East Sussex is the quintessential 16th century picturesque country inn, offering a wealth of historic features including a massive inglenook fireplace and extensive exposed timber beams throughout. This genuine 500 hundred year old chocolate box pictured Freehouse Pub is nestled in the heart of East Sussex just 2 miles form Uckfield town, 7 miles from Lewes Town ,Royal Tunbridge Wells 14 miles and Haywards heath 9 miles.

Our Food

We serve food and drinks all day long and all are welcome to enjoy this outstanding historic building.
Our kitchen team led by Jamie Hazelden have curated a menu which showcases the very best of British meats and ingredients to create outstanding dishes to include high quality Pub classics and daily specials.
Many establishments boast using local Sussex suppliers and so do we.
Just to name a few our meat comes form Handcross butchers (Handcross, West sussex), Batts Farm Free range eggs(Piltdown), MCB seafoods (Brighton),Downsview ice cream( Lewes),
Flintowl bakery bread (Glyndebourne),South Brockwells farm, Game and Asparagus(little Horstead)
Harveys best , Old ale and Olympia(lewes), Longman Best bitter(Polegate) Three Acre brewery(Heathfield) and many more.
We offer a change of dishes on our main menu seasonally and daily specials, we prioritise exceptional food , beverages and service partnering with esteemed local suppliers already mentioned to create a memorable and satisfying dining and drinking experience.

Who we are

We are an independently owned family run Freehouse in the same hands since 1988.  The building dates back to the 1560’s, our bar and dining room are packed full of original features where you can soak up the historic atmosphere whilst enjoying a very cosy lunch or dinner or just relaxing with a local real ale or glass of wine from our selective wine list.

Garden

We also offer fabulous outdoor space at the front of the pub and an extensive rear garden patio for al fresco dining or drinking throughout the summer.
